Sapa – Bac Ha Market 3 days 2 nights

Bac Ha market is well-known as one of the most colorful markets of the hill tribes in Northern Vietnam. Located 110km from Sapa, this market is usually open every Sunday from 09.00am until 2.00pm, and is a common meeting place for both trade and reunions, of at least 8 ethnic groups. This tour offers the visitors a great opportunity to witness a diverse range of lifestyles, dress, life attitudes and living conditions as you move among the hill-tribes people as they go about their market life, and enjoy the scenery and backdrop of this spectacular mountainous region. Take the opportunity to get up close and personal with the children, families and witness their cultural interactions

OVERVIEW

There are two transfer timetables which depart from Hanoi to Sapa:

Opt 1: Morning Bus: Depart every Friday’s Morning

06:00-07:00am: The bus will pick you up at any hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter or our Booking office.

Arrive Sapa in the afternoon. Then our Guide will reach the bus station to pick you up for your Trip.

Day 1: HANOI – SAPA – CAT CAT  (MEALS: L, D)

Day 2: Y LINH HO – LAO CHAI – TA VAN (MEALS: B, L, D)

Day 3: BAC HA MARKET – LAO CAI – HANOI (MEALS: B, L)

Opt 2: Night–sleeping bus/ Night train: Depart every Friday’s Night

Night Bus: 09:00-09:30pm: The bus will pick you up at any hotel in Hanoi Old quarter or our Booking office. Arrive Sapa in the early morning on the next day. Sleep on bus until 06:30AM, get pick up from the bus to Hotel in Sapa.

Night Train: 08:30pm: Our staff will transfer you to train station for your train to Lao Cai. Arrive Sapa in the early morning, get pick up from train station to Hotel.

DAY 1: HANOI – SAPA – Y LINH HO – LAO CHAI – TA VAN – 10km trekking (MEALS: B, L, D)
DAY 2: CAT CAT – SIN CHAI – 7km trekking (MEALS: B, L, D) 

DAY 3: BAC HA MARKET – LAO CAI – HANOI – light trekking (MEALS: B, L) 

ITINERARY

Night Bus/Train:

Day 1: SAPA – Y LINH HO – LAO CHAI – TA VAN (MEALS: B,L,D)

7:30 AM: Early check in is possible when you arrive if the room available, otherwise we will provide you a public room where you can have shower. Have breakfast and free time to explore Sapa’s morning market before starting our trip. Start the trip at 9:30 AM as below.

09:30 AM: Start your tour with 6km of walking down to the South East of Sapa along the side of Muong

Hoa valley to Y Linh Ho village, home of the Black H’mong people. Then you will continue for another 3km-trek down to Lao Chai village. Here we will stop for a simple lunch before exploring the village. After lunch, continue trekking through terraced rice fields to Ta Van, village of the Dzay minority people. This trek is relatively easy, though the trail can be quite slippery if it rains, so good footwear is recommended.

15:00 PM: Return to Sapa by shared tourist bus and check in to your hotel. You will then have free time

to explore the town, especially its market with all the colorful handicrafts, and interact with the locals.

Dinner and Overnight at the hotel in Sapa.

Day 2: CAT CAT – SIN CHAI (MEALS: B, L, D) 

08:30 AM: After breakfast, we begin our next day of adventures, that will take in exploring the villages which are located in a little bit further to the South-west of Sapa (around 4 km) including a visit to Cat Cat village, home of the ‘Black H’mong’ people. This trek offers some stunning views of a picturesque waterfall and the vestige of a hydro-electric power station which was built in the early 20th century. Here you can also see the local villagers working in the paddy rice fields, watch their children playing as only rural kid can, and get close up to animal such as water-buffaloes, pot-bellied pigs and chickens and taking pictures. Enjoy your lunch and the mountainous scenery.

Later, we continue to hike to Sin Chai village (3km) situated at the base of Fansipan Mountain, (which is also well-known as ‘the roof of Vietnam and Indochina’). Here you will see stunning landscape in every direction and more photo opportunities before heading back to Sapa town.

 2:30 PM: After your visits in Cat Cat and Sin Chai, head off to the main road to catch the bus back to Sapa town. Explore the town on your own for the rest of your day.

Dinner and overnight in Sapa.

Day 3: BAC HA MARKET (MEALS: B,L) (on Sunday only)

09:30 AM: Visit Bac Ha Market. Enjoy lunch with the locals before taking on the afternoon activity. The afternoon continues the adventure, as we go for a light trek to visit Ban Pho village, which is well-known as the home of the flower H’Mong minority people. Here you will be invited to enter several local houses, and enjoy some green tea, corn wine, and listen to the host sharing about their family and their daily life. Look as you listen, there is so much to see!

After the visit, say goodbye to the locals and enjoy the landscapes to Bac Ha, before returning to Lao Cai or continuing up to Sapa.

For the ways back to Hanoi, You can catch:

Opt 1: The Sleeping bus at about 4 PM (arrive Hanoi at 10PM) – Highly recommmended

Opt 2: Choose sleeping bus or night train at about 10h00PM (arrive in Hanoi about 3:00 – 4:00AM  at the bus office or train station)
